watched her neighbourhood fall into
disrepair and is living in Never
Never Land'' waiting for action.
Richmond borders the Avonside Dr

more and more neglected since the
February earthquake. Large
potholes and flooded roads have
made driving at night and in wet
Ms Galvin, resident there for
almost 20 years, said the situation
was being ignored by the powers that
I have made calls and asked for
someone to come and fix up these
roads,'' she said. I am not demand-
ing it be done immediately, but some
communication would be nice.
We have had a lot of traffic and
heavy trucks directed down these
roads for nearby roadworks, but no-
one is monitoring how quickly these
smaller streets are deteriorating.
It is just going to get worse and
worse and then it will be more
expensive to fix. Someone is going to
have an accident,'' she said.
An elderly neighbour had tried to
fill deep holes in the gutter in front
of his house, but the solution was
only temporary as heavy rain dis-
lodged more of the road.
A team had fixed a few holes in
front of her North Avon Rd home.
A city council spokesperson said
Richmond's roads were not under
council management and might not
be repaired until heavy vehicles no
longer needed access to Avonside Dr.
He said the area could be under the
Stronger Christchurch Infrastruc-
ture Rebuild Team (SCIRT).
Ms Galvin asked that residents be
informed of timelines to fix roads
