The arrival of spring has heralded a
fresh new menu at the Oak n Ferry.
The friendly local bar offers quality
cuisine using only the freshest
ingredients -- all at an affordable price.
Owner Gordon Hurrell said he and
his team enjoyed a very successful
winter and they were looking forward
to an even busier spring and summer.
The new menu features a range of
hearty and delicious dishes, such as the
satay chicken and vegetable stir-fry
served with basmati rice and roti bread,
or the homemade spaghetti and
meatballs served in a rich garlic and
tomato sauce and smothered in cheese,
both for just $14.
Other tasty options include the
homemade spicy beef or spinach and
ricotta cannelloni in a rich Napoli sauce,
served with chips and salad.
The burgers are also very popular,
such as the ultimate works burger --
beef, bacon, cheese, onion, egg,
tomato, beetroot and coleslaw with
Vicky, who is the chef of the
establishment, said the restaurant was
a well loved place to dine in Woolston
and the eastern suburbs. ''We have a
core group of return diners who eat
with us at least once a week, and when
new diners eat here, they always vow
to come back.''
The all-day menu consists of the
customary nachos, wedges and toasted
''We make the majority of our food
on site, including our burger patties,
hash browns, all sauces and dressings
and our fabulous desserts -- including
triple chocolate brownie with raspberry
couli, sticky date pudding with
butterscotch sauce or the spiced
chocolate and caramel tart -- all served
with ice cream or cream.''
A kids menu is available for $8, which
includes a free ice cream sundae.
