CHIZZY SOUNDZ 107.7FM
Photo L-R Joseph Lloyd, Ronin Wyatt and Bethan Price hit the airwaves on
107.7 FM. Listen to Chizzy Soundz on 107.7 FM. The school now has its own
radio station broadcasting on 107.7 Fm. Much work has gone into this project and
students are now benefitting from being taught the ins and outs of the technical and
programming sides of radio. Thank you to Ms Baker, Mrs Hamilton, Mr McCabe
and others for their efforts to get the station up and running.
The entries in our school based Science Fair covered a huge range of
opics. Originality and Innovation were the areas of focus in the judging
of the projects and we were grateful for the assistance of our two guest
udges from Shirley Boy's High School. The judges were most impressed
with standard of the investigations and the ability of our students to
confidently discuss the processes they had followed. The winning
projects at school were by Zarija Donald, Year 7 and Lillian Fata and
Callum Thompson, Year 8.
The winners and highly commended entries from the school then went on to the Canterbury Westland
Fair where a number of students also gained success as shown in the photo.

being filmed for a promotional video that will be used in Secondary Schools to
promote Electronics Clubs throughout New Zealand. They were filmed at the
University of Canterbury's ICT Innovation Institute. Our students were also shown
how graduates carry out their research. Our Electronics Club runs after school on
a Friday and is very popular with students who get to make and program robots
make a radio and other electronic wizardry. The school thanks Mr Barnsdal
and Mr Powick for the time they give to our students.
Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th saw over
200 students from Chisnallwood compete in the
South Island Intermediate Outdoor Tournament
in Christchurch. Two beautiful days saw creditable
performances from all our teams. Rugby, Rugby League,
Football A and mixed Netball all placed 4th. Netball B and our girls Football team were
5th with Netball A, Hockey A and Football B, 8th, 11th and 13th respectively.
Thank you to all the coaches, managers and parent helpers for their support.

This letter is to assure you that amidst the debate and discussion
about school restructuring , that Chisnallwood remains fully
operative and as vibrant as ever before.
We are staffed next year on a roll of 712 which provides us with
strength and ability to remain as always at the fore as a school of
opportunity and initiative.
I congratulate all students for their endeavours throughout the term
and commend them for their commitment to achieving personal
bests and for working towards their personal goals.
With only a day or so until end of term it is now my wish that our
"Chissy Students" can leave their "books in their bags", that they
can laugh and relax, have fun with their friends and family, and allow
themselves to enjoy the freedom of being a child.
Thank you for your support throughout the term and in particular
over the last two weeks.
With best wishes to you all.
