CHRISTCHURCH MAIL, OCTOBER 4, 2012
We are a happy caring couple in our mid
30s and have been trying without success
to start a family. We have sought medical
advice and have still been unsuccessful
due to a medical condition. We are now
looking for a very special lady, between
21-35 years in the Christchurch area who
ideally would have fnished her family and
would like to help us.

Life-long learners: Children discovering, learning, and enjoying themselves at Lollipops Educare Patten St
Lollipops Educare Patten St is a purpose-built centre
with the facilities to provide five separate rooms for
children at different ages and stages of development.
The centre has an on-site cook who provides all the
children's meals throughout the day, which are Heart
Foundation-approved, as part of the Healthy Heart
The foundation has supported the centre's
development of vegetable gardens and provided
children the hands-on experience of growing and
caring for plants starting from seedlings, centre
director Anthea Taylor says.
"The children experience the entire process of
caring for and nurturing the plants, to the enjoyable
outcome of picking and eating the final product."
The children's journey is celebrated through
portfolios that are shared with the family/whanau and
child, allowing them time to revisit their learning.
"Our educators plan and deliver experiences
around individual children's interests and support
them in further developing skills to enable them to be
life long learners," Anthea says.
"They regularly review their environments and
ensure children are given endless opportunities for
exploring and playing around with ideas, whilst still
given the opportunity to revisit favourite

Lollipops Educare Patten Street is committed to
providing their community's children with an
environment that reflects their current interests,
abilities and journeys of discovery.
Children in the Pohutukawa room (3 to 41G2 years),
discuss their plans for the day at morning kai time
and set their own learning challenges -- creatively
expressing to the educators the resources they need.
Currently, pirates are a strong interest and their
play fort has been transformed into a ''pirate ship'', as
children search the playground for hidden treasure on
the maps they have created.
Next door in the Rimu room (2 to 31G2 years), the
children have developed strong interests in all things
''messy'' with the teachers helping the children create
a watering hole in the water trough.
The Rata Room (3 months to 2 years) has more
babies attending the centre again, as the community
seems to be becoming more at ease with leaving
their most precious family members in care after the
The Rata room has a varying age group in the
nursery and a safe haven for the non mobile babies
has been created within the play area so they can
watch their older peers play, while enjoying ''tummy
time''. As the roll increases, the second nursery room
will open for the younger under-twos.
Lollipops Educare Patten St is at 7 Patten St,
Avonside, phone 389 7438.
