Favourite foods: The revitalised Oak 'n Ferry interior enriches the bar and restaurant
experience for patrons.
pub dining tops
With new owners taking over
just two months ago, the Oak
'n Ferry in Woolston not only
has a new lease of life, but a new chef
and menu as well.
The bar and restaurant recently had
a complete refit.
Bright, fresh and airy is the new look
and the menu is really good value for
money, at $16 to $20 per main.
This is gastro-style pub dining with
all of your favourites.
Surf 'n' turf, juicy ham steaks, chicken
cordon bleu and open sandwiches, as
well as burgers, omelettes and salads,
all available between 12pm and 2pm,
and from 4pm till 9pm, Wednesday
through to Sunday.
Consider 250 grams of New York
thick-cut steak, cooked just how you
like it, with a great choice of sauces like
peppercorn, mushroom, or garlic butter
for only $18. If you're a pensioner, you
can enjoy this meal and many others
on the menu for just $16.
It's so heartwarming to hear of
places like the Oak 'n Ferry providing a
special price for pensioners all week.
Kids' menu meals are just $10, and
include a soft drink and ice cream.
Light meals and bar snacks are
available at all times.
The Oak 'n Ferry has a wide range of
tap and bottled beers and wines.
Speights is always in demand, and
people down from Waikato can enjoy
their favourite bitter ale, with the
addition of Waikato Draught on tap.
Experience live acts on the
weekends, with solo artist Ialone
on Friday nights, and band Skint --
featuring brothers Chris and Dave
Baker, joined by drummer Jimmy James
Stephenson (ex The Chills) -- thrilling
the crowd with their alternative-rock on
Making sure their customers are
comfortable is a priority for the Oak 'n
Ferry team and they know how to look
after their guests.
Great prices, hearty food, friendly
staff, easy parking and even a warm,
under-cover area outside.
The Oak 'n Ferry is at 608 Ferry Rd,
phone 03 384 7816.
